Introducing the new “Reshape” Smoothie Superfood

With the re-launch of our “Boda Fast” programs, we’ve made some changes with our products. One of the changes has been with “Reshape”.

Our original “Reshape” was one of our most popular products, so no doubt there will be some of you who are a little disappointed with the change, but we truly feel that we’ve come up with something extraordinary with this new formulation. Granted I’m biased but I feel like we’ve managed to create something that not only is incredibly nutritious but still taste delicious.

To start with I wanted to create something that was 100% certified organic and then use as many superfoods together as I could. I’m a big fan of spirulina which is arguably the most nutritious food on the plant, however it has a strong taste which most people struggle with. Originally I
wanted to include 15-20% spirulina in the formula but through lots of experimenting with different formulations, the best I could do was include 10% spirulina without it’s taste coming through. There is still a strong green colour to smoothies made with “Reshape” but I managed to find ingredients which mask the taste of the spirulina.

Sprouted brown rice protein is a feature ingredient, which whilst not a superfood itself, being sprouted it makes its valuable nutrient content highly bioavailable. It also have a lovely smooth, slightly sweet taste. Raw cacao mades up 20% of the ingredients, so there is a definite chocolate tone. Whilst sprouted brown rice protein and cacao are two ingredients most people like the taste of, I still needed to find ingredients that would balance out the flavour in a pleasurable way. Including mesquite, vanilla powder and bee pollen were other ingredients which really helped us get there.

Mesquite powder is extracted from the seeds of the mesquite plant, which is found in southwestern United States and parts of South America. It not only stabilises blood sugar but it also tastes great with a sweet, slightly nutty wild flavour and a hint of caramel. Similarly, bee pollen imparts a wild earthy sweetness and then vanilla has that lovely velvety natural sweetness which rounded things out nicely.

“Reshape” was designed to provide enough nutrient density to be in itself a complete meal. It’s a pivotal component in “The Boda Fast” programs, however it is certainly a product people enjoy using everyday as a breakfast option.

Reshape’s brown rice protein is by dry-weight 80% pure and all other featured superfood ingredients are complete, highly digestible proteins with high protein percentage; Spirulina (75-80%), Cacao (20%), Mesquite (20%), Bee Pollen (40%), Chia Seed (23%). Each 20gm serving then provides approximately 10gm of protein, which in addition to the extraordinarily level of micro-nutrients contained in each individual superfood, make “Reshape” a complete liquid meal of the highest quality.

Ingredient Information

Sprouted Brown Rice Protein – 30%, Raw Cacao 20%, Mesquite 14%, Chia Seed 14%, Spirulina 10%, Bee Pollen 6%, Vanilla Powder 5.5%, Shilajit 0.5%.

Sprouted Brown Rice Protein –  our activated organic brown rice protein is by dry-weight is 80% pure, complete protein, containing all 9 essential amino acids. Sprouting increases the bio-availability of  the nutrients, making it easy to absorb. As a brown rice protein, it serves as a good source of fiber.

Spirulina –  is a complete protein with the highest concentration of protein by weight (65-71%) of any known food.  Spirulina is also rich in beta carotene, B group vitamins, vitamins E & K, minerals (especially iron and magnesium), chlorophyll, essential fatty acids omega 3 & 6 (including GLA) and finally, the super antioxidants zeaxanthin and lutein.

Raw Cacao – is 20% pure, complete protein and has the highest concentration of antioxidants of any known food source. Cacao is the number one food source of magnesium, and is also very high in iron and chromium which helps balance blood sugar. Cacao is also high in manganese which helps oxygenize the blood, along with zinc and vitamin C which support the immune system.

Mesquite -is 20% pure, complete protein which contains good quantities of calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron and zinc.  Apart from having a slightly nutty, caramel flavour, it has a very low GI of 25 which helps stabilize blood sugars by slowing the release of nutrients into the bloodstream.

Bee Pollen –  is 40% pure, complete protein. Gram for gram, pollen contains an estimated 5-7 times more protein than meat, eggs, or cheese – the protein in pollen is in a predigested form and is therefore easy to assimilate. Pollen is a vegetarian source of human-active B12. It also contains most of the B vitamins, vitamins A, C, D, and E, all the essential amino acids, and the essential fatty acid linoleic acid. Pollen is also abundant in trace minerals, such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, manganese, potassium, copper, silicon, sulphur choline, titanium, and sodium.

Chia Seeds –  are 23% pure, complete protein  and are particularly renowned for their high Omega 3 essential fatty acid content. Upon ingestion they form a healing, anti-inflammatory mucilage which is soothing on the digestive system.  Chia seeds contain significant quantities of lignans, which have anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-cancer properties. These little seeds improve digestion, help stabilize blood glucose levels, fight tumor formation and enhance cardiovascular health.  Finally, they are also a great source of fiber, to help “keep things moving”.

Vanilla Powder –  apart from imparting a lovely velvety flavor, studies on vanilla’s active component “vanillin” suggest it contains strong antioxidant and antibacterial properties, and even cancer or tumor fighting abilities.

Shilajit – is the most important medicine in the Ayurvedic school in India. In Sanskrit, Shilajit translates as “conqueror of mountains and destroyer of weakness”. Shilajit is an end product of plant matter trapped within the Himalayan mountains. According to Ayurveda, Shilajit possesses “lekhaniya” or fat scraping qualities that remove excess fat and accumulations in the body, and is also classified as a “Rasayana” (immuno-modulator) which balances and improves body’s immune response to fight bacteria, viruses, etc. Shilajit dramatically increases levels of powerful antioxidants, such as Glutathione and Super Oxide dismutase. It lowers fasting blood sugar, providing stable energy, improved mood, better fat metabolism and decreased cravings. Finally, Shilajit’s fulvic acids are highly porous, dramatically improving nutrients and energy to be carried into the cell and toxins to be pulled out of the cells.
